Get the Most Accurate Speed Reading from Your Turntable
Proper turntable alignment is critical to getting the most from your LPs, speed stability is an essential part of any turntable setup. Every aspect of a turntable's performance is affected by speed; bass, midrange and treble, tonal balance, even imaging can be affected by incorrect speed.
The Clearaudio Speed Strobe LP is unique in that it is the first test disc we are aware of that allows the user to account for stylus drag when calibrating speed. The Speed Strobe LP features a unique groove which allows the strobe disc to be played just like a regular LP, allowing the drag of the stylus to finally be taken into account when setting platter speed. As an added bonus, the drag groove is perfect for breaking in new cartridges!
“[Clearaudio's Speed Strobe Kit], a two-sided white strobe
disc, with markings for calibrating both 33 and 45 speeds, as well as a
special groove that allows you to break in a cartridge. Shine the [Speed
Strobe Light's] little blue light on the disc, and, voila, speed can
easily be calibrated. The Clearaudio Speed Test Disc and Speed Laser
have become part of our reference accessories list. And much welcomed!”
- Harry Pearson, The Absolute Sound
The Clearaudio Speed Strobe Light is a calibrated 300Hz quartz light source, vastly more accurate than standard fluorescent light sources, allowing for higher accuracy and greater ease in determining actual platter speed. As part of this kit, this little light takes the stress out of checking platter speed.
The Clearaudio Speed Strobe Light and Speed Strobe Disc are also available separately.
