Expressimo Audio Brass Rega End Stub with Ultra Fine Adjustment
Superior Sonic Performance and Ultimate Adjustability in One Device
Expressimo has created the most ingenious and best sounding upgrade for a Rega tonearm we've ever found. Easily installed, Expressimo's End Stub replaces the stock steel end-stub and provides a serious sonic upgrade, plus adds the ability to very finely tune tracking force. To complete the ultimate performance package, add Expressimo's Half-Moon weight, sold separately. Extract even more performance when used with Expressimo's Brass End Stub.
The Brass End Stub is actually two devices in one; the main shaft which provides a solid mounting point for the counterweight, and the rear part which consists of two individually adjustable brass weights for ultra-fine adjustment of tracking force. Once the End Stub has replaced the stock end stub and the counter-weight has been re-installed and approximate tracking force has been applied, the rear-weights can be tightened or loosened to apply more or less force. This allows the tracking force to be very accurately applied, as well as allowing easy experimentation with various minute adjustments.
Those familiar with Expressimo Audio's previous offerings from years ago might ask why the company would switch from all-steel to all-brass; the answer is entirely in the listening. Steel is a wonderful industrial material, it is rigid, massive, easily machined and looks great. However, sonically, steel is a pretty difficult material to listen to, tending towards a bright, harsh sound, full of ringing resonance. Brass on the other hand is a better damped material and its resonant characteristics tend more toward warmth and richness. The Expressimo End Stub and Half-Moon weights are both constructed from high-quality brass for years and years of listening enjoyment.
