While solid conductors eliminate strand-interaction distortion and reduce jitter, solid silver-plated conductors are excellent for very high-frequency applications, in which the signals travel almost exclusively on the conductor's surface. Since the conductor's surface is made of high-purity silver, the cable's performance comes very close to that of a solid silver cable, but with a price much closer to that of a solid copper cable.

Any solid material adjacent to a conductor is part of an imperfect circuit. Wire insulation and circuit board materials all absorb energy, some of which is stored and then released as distortion.
