PS Audio NuWave DSD DAC
Asynchronous, Fully Balanced, Class A Design Accepts Inputs From Any Digital Source and Sounds Incredible: PS Audio NuWave DSD DAC Plays 24-Bit/192kHz PCM and 2x DSD In Bit-Perfect Form
NOTE: Trade-In Any Old PS Audio DAC and Save $400 - Call Us for Details
Providing outstanding, lively sound that rivals any DAC in its price class, the PS Audio NuWave DSD DAC accepts inputs from any digital source (including I2S and asynchronous USB) and plays both 24-bit/192kHz PCM and 2x DSD in bit-perfect form. Featuring trickle-down technology taken from the flagship DirectStream DAC in a much more affordable configuration, the fully balanced Class A design boasts an ESS Hyperstream 32-bit DAC, four digital inputs, completely passive analog filtering, and both balanced and single-ended outputs. You'll experience three-dimensional imaging, extensive soundstages, and rich tonalities from all your digital music. Plus, the American-made NuWave DSD DAC turns into a high-end media server when hooked up to a computer with a USB cable. That's right: Stream PCM and DSD audio at full rates, and control it all with a handheld device. It's that simple. Voiced and tuned by PS Audio guru Paul McGowan, NuWave DSD is nothing less than a compact digital wonder. 100% Music Direct Guaranteed.
“The most important improvement with the DirectStream was that the music just seemed more relaxed. With this sense of relaxation—better spatial presentation may also have played a role—the music became more believable.”

No Sample-Rate-Conversion Processing Allowed: Native Mode for Bit-Perfect Streaming
NuWave DSD allows you to stream bit-perfect digital audio (including PCM and DSD) in many ways, including music stored on your computer. All incoming musical data is fed directly into a simplified FPGA in Native Mode without the degradation typical of sample-rate converter chips. Native Mode decodes any resolution audio from 16-bit/44.1kHz up to 2x DSD with no processing by an SRC. Incoming data is identified, organized, and prepared for proper delivery to the ESS Hyperstream DAC by the custom CPLD on NuWave DSD's input.
Asynchronous USB for PCM and 2x DSD, Even Doubles as a Media Server
Asynchronous and capable of 24-bit/192kHz performance for PCM and single or double-rate DSD, NuWave DSD's USB input sounds magnificent. Using a high-quality USB cable between NuWave DSD and your computer creates an instant media server that can be controlled through any number of handheld devices like an iPad, iPhone, or Android using a 3rd party controller program. Your entire music library can be managed by iTunes, JRiver, MConnect, Windows Media Player, Foobar, Pure Music, Bit Perfect, Media Monkey, or Ammara for ease of use. With NuWave DSD and a USB cable, you can stream both PCM and DSD high-resolution audio using nothing more than your computer and a handheld device to control and play your entire music library.
I2S Input for Premium Data Transfer
An I2S input comes standard on NuWave DAC. I2S is the native format of all CD transports and many servers. I2S (pronounced "I squared S") features separate clock and data signals from the source. Typically, these clock and data signals are multiplexed together to be transmitted over a single cable in a format known as S/PDIF or AES/EBU. Once received in multiplexed form, the DAC input must untangle the clock and data and once again separate them. I2S solves the problems associated with unravelling data of S/PDIF and AES/EBU formats. I2S outputs are sent via an HDMI cable.
All-Passive Analog Filtering for Sweet, Wide-Open Sonics
Once digital audio data is processed through NuWave DSD's ESS Hyperstream 32-bit DAC, it's time to turn it into music via the analog filter and output stage. Most DACs use an active filtering system to clean up the output of the internal DAC, but this can add a harsh, bright sound to the music. In NuWave DSD, all-passive analog filtering gives the output a sweet, open sound unencumbered with harsh digital artifacts.
Class A, Fully Balanced Design With Balanced Outputs
NuWave DSD is a Class A, fully balanced design with an extremely low impedance output stage configuration and powerful driving capabilities. Driving even medium lengths of analog interconnect cables can be a sonic challenge if this critical stage is not designed properly. NuWave DSD offers both balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA driven from this low-impedance output stage.
