A Classic Reborn: JBL SA750 Integrated Amplifier Combines Retro Aesthetics with the Ability to Stream High-Resolution Audio While Delivering Terrific Sound from Other Analog Sources

JBL celebrates its 75th anniversary with the SA750, an integrated amplifier with a classic design that evokes the company's SA600 amp from 1960s. The alluring, teak-wood veneer side panels on the chassis convey a vintage vibe, but under the hood, this muscular champ is driven by 120Wpc of cutting-edge, Class G amplifier technology. The SA750 offers high-resolution streaming capability, wireless connectivity, and Dirac Live room-correction technology, making it an integrated amp that combines the great visual aesthetic of yesterday with the stunning sonic clarity of today. With its switchable MM/MC phono input, the versatile SA750 also helps you experience sterling audio quality when playing your vinyl.

The Roon-ready SA750 contains a high-resolution DAC and is built to stream music – at 24-bit/192kHz, with full MQA file decoding – using Apple AirPlay 2, Google Chromecast, Roon, UPnP and the MusicLife app.

The milled aluminum front panel has an amber LED display screen, plus elegant dials for volume, balance and input. Additionally, there are heavy-duty switches for power, mute, direct, MC/MM phono, and Dirac Live room calibration. The front panel also includes a 3.5mm auxiliary input and 3.5mm headphones output, providing even more flexibility.

The SA750 can be connected to a network wirelessly or via Ethernet. Because it features five pairs of analog RCA inputs (including the MM and MC phono inputs), along with four digital inputs, the SA750 is ready for any audio source. Delivering 120 watts into eight ohms and 220 watts into four ohms, the Class G design offers incredible sonic detail. It operates as a Class A amplifier for low-level signals, then efficiently switches in an additional power supply, as needed, for large transients and dynamic waveforms.

Shipped with a calibration microphone, the SA750 comes with Dirac Live, which allows you fine-tune the output of speakers and subwoofers to address the subtle nuances of any listening environment and remove unwanted coloration.

The SA750 comes packaged with a power cord, a remote control with batteries, a setup microphone and a USB cable.

The engineers at JBL have honored the company's history of innovation and stylish design by combining a visual aesthetic of the past with powerful yet efficient amplification technology. The result is a component that extends the legacy of an iconic brand built on 75 years of innovation developed by artists, producers and audio engineers around the globe. Additionally, the SA750 is engineered to complement JBL's iconic L100 Classic loudspeakers. 100% Music Direct Guaranteed.

What Is Class G Amplification?

Like a hybrid car engine, Class G implements multiple power supplies rather than just a single supply. If a dynamic signal is received that goes beyond the capability of this first power supply, the secondary supply is gradually brought in, up to full rated power output as needed. This is a very efficient design because additional power is only used when required, much like a turbocharger. Utilizing high-speed silicon allows this switch to happen faster than would ever be required, even beyond the audio bandwidth. Therefore, the design completely avoids anything akin to the dreaded "turbo lag" one might experience when driving a turbocharged car.

The first power supply is of lower power, and within this region, it runs as pure Class A amplification, which has no crossover distortion. Because the secondary supply, running in Class AB, is only used when needed, extreme levels of power are possible because very little energy is wasted in the amplifier as heat.

Dirac Live Room Correction Technology

Dirac Live is a mixed-phase room correction technology used in cinemas, studios, and luxury cars. With Dirac Live you can easily measure the acoustic characteristics of your loudspeakers and room, and then calibrate the sound system to reproduce sound as intended. This technology corrects not only the frequency response but also the impulse response, a factor that is critical for accurate staging, clarity, and bass reproduction. Dirac Live will:

  • Improve the imaging of your sound system and the clarity of the music
  • Make voices more intelligible
  • Produce a tighter bass
  • Reduce listening fatigue
  • Improve the timbre, remove resonances and room modes
  • Reduce early reflections
  • Deliver mixed-phase filtering for maximum performance and time domain control
