Description

Advanced Connectivity, Custom Control, Engaging Fidelity, and Analog Bass Management: Parasound P6 2.1-Channel Preamplifier/DAC Also Includes MM/MC Phono Preamp

If you own or have ever considered adding a subwoofer to your stereo system, the Parasound P6 2.1-channel preamplifier/DAC takes you to the dance in memorable fashion. Equipped with forward-looking connectivity and an ESS SABRE32 Reference DAC, the 14-pound unit offers a plethora of set-up options as well as high-resolution ability. An asynchronous USB input that supports DSD256 and 32-bit/384kHz PCM, upgraded USB receiver for plug-and-play operation with Windows and Mac, and coaxial and optical inputs that accept up to 24-bit/192kHz practically put audiophile-quality digital at your fingertips. Home-theater bypass for surround-sound integration, analog bass management with high- and low-pass crossovers, and a front-panel subwoofer control further expand P6's versatility – and user-friendliness.

Like all Parasound Halo Series components, P6 prides itself on its engaging fidelity. A logarithmic, Burr-Brown analog resistor ladder volume control with ball-bearing support and meticulous circuitry help account for its remarkable detail retrieval, soundstage depth, wide dynamics, and channel separation. P6 also gets you into the vinyl game by way of a high-performance MM/MC phono input with 47- and 100-ohm load. And because you might want to listen in private, a dedicated high-current headphone amplifier is ready to drive your 'phones.

Perhaps most importantly, P6 provides a level of custom control most preamplifiers cannot touch. A pair of balanced XLR inputs accompany five pairs of RCA line-level inputs, a pair of both XLR and RCA left/right preamplifier outputs, and one balanced XLR and two RCA subwoofer outputs accommodate most setups – and allow for future expansion. Bass and treble controls with relay bypass from the supplied backlit remote control or front panel let you dial-in the sound to your exact specifications, if you so desire. Programmable default turn-on volume setting and favorite volume memory are here, too. Ditto a dimmable front-panel volume display.

Housed in a sturdy chassis with sand-blasted metal end caps, P6 makes for an ideal companion with any Parasound power amplifier or with amps by other manufacturers. A five-year manufacturer warranty and our 100% Music Direct Satisfaction Guarantee give you the security you need to experience it risk-free in your own home.

"[The] P 6 is straightforwardly neutral.... Another fantastic aspect of the P 6's performance is the lack of grain it delivers.... The key to the Parasound P 6's excellence is a high level of performance in every area it covers. Nothing feels like an afterthought, and this one will spoil you, should you become more obsessed with audio. Definitely a keeper and an Exceptional Value Award winner."
—Jerold O'Brien, TONEAudio, Exceptional Value Award

"In typical Parasound fashion, I found the P 6's sonic performance punches well above its price point, with it offering good subjective dynamic range, stereo separation, imaging, and soundstage depth. Certain areas of performance stood out, though, especially considering the P 6's price. Of note, the P 6 has the ability to render tremendous amounts of detail."
– Dylan Seeger, Home Theater Review

"Together, the Parasound P 6 and A 23+ are dynamite. Pure sonic magic with brilliant dynamics, delicious midrange and impressive resolution. To get such good sound for the price of this duo seems almost unnatural."
