Change the Way You Navigate, Organize, and Listen to Music with the Roon Nucleus Music Server: Includes 1-Year Software Subscription and Your Choice of Storage Drive

The Roon Nucleus music server will change how you discover, organize, navigate, and listen to music. It works in sync with Roon's music-management software, which smartly organizes all your digital music by combining all the albums on your hard drive with all the music available for high-res streaming on TIDAL and Qobuz. Equipped with 4GB of RAM, Nucleus lets you pilot all of your digital music from your tablet, phone, or computer, and allows you to stream high-resolution files to up to six zones throughout your home. It is seamlessly compatible with the wide range of audio gear denoted as "Roon-ready." This bundle includes a Nucleus with a one-year subscription to Roon software and either a 2TB or 4TB SSD (choose from our button menu).

Setup and operation of Nucleus are a breeze. Just plug the compact device in, connect it to your Ethernet (Roon does not interface with Wi-Fi), and download the Roon apps for your mobile devices and computers. Nucleus keeps itself current with automatic, over-the-air updates. Once it's up and running, you won't need to worry about it again. Even better, the Roon app provides an immersive experience that feels like an endless record store combined with an authoritative music magazine focused on your collection and taste.

When you set up your Nucleus, Roon will automatically identify the Roon-ready components you already own, letting you can control them with the Roon app.  Roon will also automatically detect the highest-resolution file that can be streamed by any component in your system. Nucleus allows you to easily stream high-resolution files to six zones throughout your home and is compatible with an incredible variety of audio gear denoted as "Roon-ready."

Featuring a Linux operating system based around an Intel NUC board, Nucleus has no fan or moving parts, so it runs quiet and won't overheat. In addition to streaming services, you can play music from an internal hard drive or SSD for content storage, add an external USB drive, or keep your music on a NAS.

The Transformative Power of Roon Software

The Nucleus is engineered to work with Roon Labs' revolutionary music-management software. Roon automatically compiles a galaxy of metadata about the artists and albums in your collection. Filled with vibrant graphics and classic photography, Roon displays, for example, the connections between artists. Roon automatically locates photos, credits, bios, reviews, lyrics, and tour dates. Then it connects all that information via links to build a searchable guide to your digital collection. If you search for a particular artist, Roon will find that artist's music not only in your collection, but also in TIDAL and/or Qobuz. The technology identifies duplicate tracks, and it automatically displays the highest-resolution version of any song. When you're playing a track, a Roon feature called Signal Path: Enhanced provides a visual representation of the entire signal path, from the source to the loudspeaker. If it is an MQA track, Roon will show you exactly how it is being decoded and rendered. If you want to tweak your sound, the DSP feature allows you to create EQ profiles for the various zones in your home.

Valence Uses Artificial Intelligence

When you think about discovering new music, you probably don't envision a network of servers analyzing the listening habits of millions of users, identifying patterns in the data to find other content that you might like. Roon's Valence technology does more than merely compare you to other users. It harnesses Roon's deep metadata as its foundation, providing context about the artists who compose, perform, and produce music. Next, it considers your listening history before filtering for the results that are most popular – but only among listeners who are experts in that genre.

What Does Roon Ready Mean?

Roon Ready network players (manufactured by various companies) have Roon's high-resolution streaming technology built right in. These players offer simple setup, daily reliability, and support for the highest level of digital audio performance. Every Roon Ready player is certified by Roon to deliver a great audio experience, regardless of its manufacturer, price, or features. Roon Ready devices are different from ones identified as Roon Tested. Roon is compatible with thousands of USB, Airplay, and Chromecast devices, but Roon Tested devices have been profiled by the Roon engineers to ensure simple setup and effortless daily use.
