The Music Server Made for Home-Automation Systems: Room Whirlwind Core Delivers High-Res Audio Throughout Your House

A dedicated Roon Core developed to seamlessly integrate with your existing home automation solution, the Roon Whirlwind streamer features four-zone audio outputs and flexible storage options to deliver high-resolution audio all around your home. Its built-in Room-ready streamer and wide range digital and analog outputs makes it ideal for whole-home audio system with multiple audio inputs. This extends to its compatibility with Crestron and Control 4 users, and rack-mountable case design complete with removable ears.

In addition to providing effortless integration with TIDAL and Qobuz, Whirlwind has a removable, 2.5-inch front-loading hard-drive bay that makes it easy for users with extensive music collections on stored drives. Capable of all DSP combinations, Whirlwind touts four RCA analog, four optical S/PDIF, and four coaxial S/PDIF outputs. If you have a whole-home system, Whirlwind is the server that will blow you away. (Please note that it requires an Ethernet connection and does not interface with Wi-Fi.)

The 13-pound Whirlwind comes with a power brick and cord, three-foot Ethernet cable, two-year manufacturer warranty, one-year subscription to Roon software, and one-year subscription to TIDAL. Please contact an audio consultant at 312-433-0200 if you have any questions about this high-tech device or the Roon experience.

More About Roon and How It Works

Roon is a music-management and listening solution that takes a unique approach to interacting with your music. Instead of seeing a spreadsheet-like view of your music collection, Roon provides an on-screen "deep dive," using credits, artist relationships, genres, lyrics, tour dates, artwork, and more to make the navigation and exploration of your library both fun and enriching. Roon manages digital music files collected on hard drives and networked storage. It can also “watch” your iTunes library, and optionally integrate with the TIDAL and Qobuz streaming services.

Roon cleans up your music library, upgrades the metadata associated with your music, and provides a user interface that is detailed and easy to navigate. The goal of Roon is make the exploration and discovery of music a fun, easy process. Roon provides bit-perfect playback of lossy and lossless file formats, including high-resolution audio content (PCM and DSD). Additional conveniences, such as crossfading and volume normalization, make it suitable for both concentrated listening sessions as well as social events.

Roon manages your various audio “renderers” (things that make sound)—whether they be built-in sound devices, like your laptop's audio output, a USB connected DAC, or even networked audio devices. Roon uses your music files, internet radio streams, and content from the TIDAL and Qobuz streaming music services, but it doesn't come with any music.

Roon is an application suite that must be installed. It is not a website. It runs on Macs, Windows PCs and Tablets, Linux PCs, Android Tablets, Apple iPads and iPhones. The Roon software is constantly being improved, and updates are always free of charge to licensed users.
