Make Recorded Music Sound Like Live Music and Give Your System Proper Power: 12-Outlet Shunyata Hydra Sigma S12 Sets New Performance Standards, Isolates Components and Noise

The flagship in Shunyata Research's groundbreaking Performance Line, the Hydra Sigma S12 power conditioner sets new in-class standards in the fields of component isolation, audio performance, and construction. Loaded with state-of-the-art technologies, audiophile-grade parts, and proprietary principles directly taken from the company's top-of-the-line Denali and Triton models, the 12-outlet powerhouse provides six separate zones of isolation, more than 60dB of noise reduction, and unrestricted high-current power for even the most complex systems. Hydra Sigma S12 further stands apart from the pack via MED filter technology, CopperCONN outlets, and SSF-50 footers. By supplying pure, unadulterated power to your components all the while drastically lessening noise from the power line – and intercepting component-to-component noise – Hydra Sigma S12 renders glorious improvements in the crucial areas of dynamics, soundstaging, details, textures, tones, backgrounds, balances, and imaging. Massive increases in clarity, transparency, liveliness, presence, and realism may have you thinking you've also gotten new gear. Hydra Sigma S12 helps allow recorded music to sound like live music.

Per Shunyata tradition, Hydra Sigma S12 arrives dressed to the nines with an all-aluminum chassis, advanced internal ground insolation, stainless-steel feet, and sophisticated vibration isolation. Rated at a full 20A and measuring 6.3 x 17 x 11.5 inches (HWD), the U.S.A.-made component spills over with proven (and patented) features. Visually, you might immediately notice that its CopperCONN outlets get unstinting support in the form of Shunyata's very own cable-cradle system for optimal grip and protection. Backed by an industry-leading Limited Lifetime Transferable Warranty, the company's Trident-Defense protection system complements trademarked CCI noise reduction, trademarked NIC noise reduction, and proprietary GP-NR noise reduction technologies. Cutting-edge hydraulic electromagnetic breakers, eight-gauge ArNi conductors, massive buss conductors, and wire strands arrayed in unique hollow-tube VTX geometry all come standard.

Leaving no proverbial stone unturned, Shunyata also treated each Hydra Sigma S12 with its proprietary Kinetic Phase Inversion Process (KPIP), a step that drastically reduces burn-in time and improves fidelity. Relatedly, many of the electrical components went through cryogenic treatment at the company's dedicated lab. Furthermore, each chassis panel and internal structure tout vibration-dampening materials while the outlets remain isolated from the chassis with dampening gaskets. And all internal modules, filters, and electronics are encapsulated in a vibration-absorbent compound.

You can easily read more about the specifics of the distinctive technology below, but we more enthusiastically encourage you to hear just how colossal an upgrade Hydra Sigma S12 will make to your own system by arranging for a risk-free in-home audition backed by our 100% Satisfaction Guarantee. If you've always wondered if there was anything behind power-conditioning claims or dreamed of implementing a Shunyata unit in your setup, there's never been a better time to act.

DTCD (Dynamic Transient Current Delivery) Design
Hydra Sigma S12 is designed using Shunyata Research's DTCD analyzer. DTCD Analysis measures instantaneous current through extremely-low impedance electrical conductors and contacts. Shunyata Research uses it to optimize the design and performance of our power conditioners and power cabling.

CCI and NIC Noise Reduction
Traditional power conditioners are designed to block incoming noise from outside the home but do not address the noise generated by the electronic components themselves. In fact, most conditioners reflect noise back into other components connected to the power conditioner. CCI (Component-to-Component Interference) is one of the most significant but often overlooked aspects to power system performance. Shunyata's CCI filter consists of a proprietary multi-stage filter that reduces electrical noise and power supply generated interference. Relatedly, the NIC (Noise Isolation Chamber) is a patented technology that reduces high-frequency power line noise. NICs use ferroelectric substances that actually absorb high-frequency noise. This allows Hydra Sigma S12 to reduce noise without any of the negative interactions associated with conventional power conditioner designs.

GP-NR Noise Reduction
When it comes to reducing noise, engineers focus primarily on the AC electrical lines, with little if any thought given to the ground lines. The incoming ground line and the internal power conditioner ground plane can actually act as antennae, drawing in electrical noise that may interfere with the operation of the connected components. Ground Plane Noise Reduction is a proprietary technology developed by Shunyata Research to significantly reduce interference caused by this phenomenon, thereby providing a purer audio experience.

Six Zones of Isolation
Hydra Sigma S12 features six zones of isolation so that each duplex is isolated. This design principle provides for a high level of noise isolation while delivering exceptional audio and video performance.

High-Current Capability and Hydraulic Electromagnetic Breaker
Hydra Sigma S12 is rated at a full 20 Amps of continuous current, ensuring unfettered power delivery to complex entertainment systems, including those with high-powered amplifiers. Advanced electromagnetic breakers in addition to massive buss and eight-gauge ArNi conductors provide exceptional dynamic contrast and bass impact. Common power conditioners use fuses or thermal breakers for over-current protection; when heavily loaded, they may cause voltage drops, increased contact impedance, thermal noise, excessive heat generation, and current-limiting effects. Hydra Sigma S12, however, employs a more advanced solution called a hydraulic electromagnetic breaker, which operates right up to the maximum current rating without the limitations of fuses or thermal breakers.

CopperCONN Outlets and a Cable Cradle Support System
All commercial-grade connectors and virtually all audiophile-grade connectors are made from a brass or bronze base metal. Some may get a plating of nickel, silver, gold, or rhodium, which is only a few millionths of an inch thick. Shunyata Research CopperCONN is constructed using solid, high purity, oxygen-free copper as the base metal with a flash coating to protect the copper from oxidation. CopperCONN outlets and connectors are designed to provide superior grip strength and contact integrity. This contributes to a measurable improvement in DTCD performance and a correspondingly obvious difference in audible performance. Hydra Sigma S12 also employs Shunyata Research's unique solution for the problem of heavy high-end power cables. The Cable Cradle supports the weight of the power cables, preventing them from pulling away from the outlet.

ArNi Conductors and KPIP Treatment
Proprietary ArNi conductors are made from certified OFE C10100 (Certified ASTM F68) copper. The wire strands are arrayed in a unique hollow-tube VTX geometry that reduces skin effects. ArNi conductors are treated with Shunyata Research's exclusive Kinetic Phase Inversion Process (KPIP) for a period of eight days. KPIP dramatically reduces burn-in time and significantly improves sonic performance.

Vibration Management
Mechanical vibration can be very destructive to system performance. Hydra Sigma S12 was designed from its inception to include advanced forms of vibration control that improve the recovery of subtle musical detail and nuance. All chassis panels and internal structures are treated with vibration-dampening materials. The outlets are isolated from the chassis with vibration-dampening gaskets that reduce vibration conducted through the AC cables. All internal modules, filters, and electronics are encapsulated in a vibration-absorbent compound.

Cryogenic Treatment
Many of the electrical components in Hydra Sigma S12 are treated in Shunyata Research's own advanced computer-controlled cryogenics lab. Further cryogenic treatment of the unit is strongly discouraged, and will void your warranty.

SSF-50 Footers
Hydra Sigma S12 includes Shunyata Research's SSF-50 isolation footers, specifically designed to reduce vibration from the supporting platform. Power distributors react very similarly to amplifiers in relationship to floor-borne vibration. After researching multiple forms of energy dissipation methods, Shunyata developed SSF-50 to provide the performance characteristics of an expensive after-market isolator but at a fraction of the cost.
