Ideal for Surround-Sound Setups and Small Rooms: Compact Dali Spektor 1 Bookshelf Loudspeakers Feature Wide Dispersion

Music, movies, or both: It's your choice with the Dali Spektor 1 bookshelf loudspeaker. Given their petite size (9.33 x 5.51 x 7.68 inches) and weight (5.73 pounds), one might be tempted to think the smallest model in the Spektor Series gets by on cuteness alone. Don't let the diminutive dimensions fool you. Graced with everything inside its bigger sibling, Spektor 2, save for a slightly scaled-down woofer (4.25-inch) and tweeter (0.80-inch) combo, Spektor 1 delivers engaging sound no matter how or where it's employed. Good things indeed occasionally come in small packages.

Equally proficient as an entry-level stereo main or rear- or side-channel surround, Spektor 1 touts Dali's trademark wood-fiber cones for excellent rigidity, optimal airflow, and diminished resonance. A highly accurate, extra-light tweeter plays without audible breakups and handles crucial transitions with aplomb. Excellent off-axis distribution and wide-dispersion characteristics speak to its versatility and integration-friendly traits. Further engineered to mate with practically any amplifier on the planet, bolstered with technology that eliminates any need for frequency correction in the crossover, and rounded out with classic looks, the abilities of Spektor 1 truly belie its size and cost. 100% Music Direct Guaranteed.

"Rarely have we come across compact budget speakers with such a broad range of talents."

Seamless Integration and Wide Dispersion
Dali makes it easy to integrate your loudspeakers into any room. The driver materials and geometry applied in Spektor Series have been selected to achieve a wide dispersion pattern. You will experience a well-integrated sound, even when listening significantly off-axis. Optimizing the audio signal for off-axis distribution also results in the signal reaching your ear directly and the signal reflected off the room surfaces, leading to a coherent balance. This means a consistent sound quality across a much wider listening area. At the same time, it offers greater freedom and flexibility in positioning the loudspeakers. An added benefit is hugely reduced harmonic distortion and diffractions causing frequency distortion. This is also the reason why Dali speakers are not designed for toeing-in.

Trademark Wood-Fiber Cone Woofers
Wood-fiber cones are a Dali trademark. In Spektor Series, the cone membrane is crafted from a mix of fine grained paper and wood-fiber pulp. This approach makes the cones very rigid and lightweight. The unevenness in the structure of the membrane helps minimize unwanted surface resonances. Combining the well-behaved wood-fiber cone with the low-loss rubber surround and spider suspension results in the accurate reproduction of even small micro-details in the signal. The structure of the chassis is designed for optimal strength and airflow. Keeping the woofer structure strong eliminates internal vibrations and the optimized airflow around the cone area keeps movements unhindered, resulting in the ability to transform as much of the energy from the amplifier into movement.

Soft-Dome Tweeters for High Accuracy
Spektor Series tweeters render high frequencies with high accuracy. This means very short excursions, but at high speed – or rathe, with high acceleration. In other words, it features a low moving mass and a strong motor. The tweeter is based on an ultra-lightweight weaved fabric. Compared to most soft dome tweeters on the market, the material is less than half the weight. It can play even the lowest parts of the high-frequency range without any breakups. This is crucial when handling the all important hand-over from the woofer to the tweeter. Not having to push either the woofer or tweeter beyond what they do best results in a seamless transition and preservation of detail in the midrange frequencies.

Emphasizing Low Mechanical Loss
The primary function of any loudspeaker is to convert the electrical signal from the amplifier into a realistic audio experience. Any distortion or coloration of the original signal by drivers or enclosures degrades the sound. Clarity in an audio signal is obtained by low loss of information in combination with creating a smooth, seamless reproduction in both the time and frequency domain. By using only Dali-designed and custom-built drivers, the need for frequency correction in the crossover is eliminated. This enables the design of an exact crossover out of quality components that ensures the signal loss remains close to zero. Another fundamental is the lowering of mechanical distortion to make sure the connected amplifier will not be exposed to a larger-than-necessary challenge, causing loss of detail in the signal even before it has the chance to reach the loudspeaker. Through very low mechanical loss, the most fragile sound details, even at low listening levels, are preserved.
