Impeccable Sound, Remarkable Precision, and Solid Reliability: The Dual CS 518 Delivers an Audiophile Turntable Experience with a Tremendous Price-to-Performance Profile
The Dual CS 518 Turntable delivers an exceptional audiophile experience, in addition to offering a tremendous price-to-performance ratio. This is a gem for the discerning music lover who wants a reliable, superior turntable that won't break the bank. It's incredibly easy to set up, and it comes loaded with the acclaimed Ortofon 2M Red phono cartridge. That means you can be spinning your favorite vinyl within minutes of unboxing this exquisite turntable.
The CS 518 is equipped with a twin gimbal tonearm design that uses pivot ball-bearings for optimal precision, enabling the cartridge to track the grooves of LPs with complete accuracy and reliability. The platter is die-cast aluminum, the plinth has a solid MDF construction, and the feet are designed with elastomer damping to reduce vibrations. Additionally, a heavy rubber mat provides resonance damping. Under the hood, there's a carefully engineered, low-vibration DC servo motor.
A built-in, switchable moving-magnet phono preamplifier is a key feature of this convenient, ready-to-run turntable. Dual has upped the convenience factor by giving this turntable three speeds (33/45/78 RPM) and a removable dust cover for protection. The Ortofon 2M Red phono cartridge has won accolades throughout the industry, and the CS 518's removable headshell makes it easy to install a different cartridge, if desired.
Like all Music Direct products, the Dual CS 518 Turntable comes with the 100% Music Direct Satisfaction Guarantee.
"[The] clarity and thoroughness of the Dual owner's manual and instructions are far and away the best I've seen — and they make the process a breeze.... I found this Dual to be better sounding than any turntable I've previously owned from the brand.... Dual has done a superb job selecting a cartridge that matches the turntable's character very well, the Ortofon 2M Red, which I've come to like more and more. Be advised: The 2M Red needs to be used for at least 10 hours before you critically listen to it. Once the cantilever is broken in, it has a lively sound and is particularly great with transients."

"[It is important] that all parts of the complete setup, meaning turntable, arm, and system, harmonize with each other. Otherwise, unnecessary, sound-damaging resonances might be brought into play. The CS 518 masters this discipline better than many of its current competitors.... Another pleasant chapter is added to the glorious history of Dual turntables with this device."
