Terrific Resolution, Remarkable Imaging, Wide Soundstaging, Sumptuous Detail, Absorbing Warmth: Soundsmith Zephyr MkIII Moving-Iron Phono Cartridge Pays Huge Dividends for Your Vinyl Investment

The most resolving Zephyr incarnation yet, the Soundsmith Zephyr MkIII moving-iron phono cartridge employs "Trickle Down" Technology from a unique Energy Distribution System within the cartridge body – the same system as in Soundsmith's much more expensive, higher-end Sussurro cartridge. Zephyr MkIII is built using a selected "low mass contact line diamond" stylus design, mounted on a Boron cantilever capable of truly remarkable separation, soundstaging, and imaging.

The composite body and unique energy distribution system contributes to Zephyr MkIII's ability to produce high-end performance from a moderately priced audiophile cartridge. Able to be rebuilt at a fraction of the original cost, Zephyr MkIII will provide a level of clarity and beauty from your vinyl that will make you want to take out every LP in your record collection and listen to them again and again.

The Advantage of Moving-Iron Designs

A Moving Iron cartridge design has both the magnets and the coils fixed in place. A very low-mass and extremely precisely wound iron cross is affixed to the cantilever/stylus assembly and placed between the magnets and coils. As the iron cross moves in the magnetic field, it generates signal voltage. Since only the iron cross moves, more coil windings (higher output) and heavier magnets (more powerful) may be used without penalty. Other advantages to MI designs are very low moving mass (greater resolution) and superior channel separation (better imaging).

Buy With Confidence: Zephyr MkIII Can Be Rebuilt

Zephyr MkIII benefits from infallible customer support and a wonderful safety net. Soundsmith is the only high-end cartridge company that rebuilds its own products at a fraction of the original price – no matter what the issue. Equally important, moving-iron cartridges can always be rebuilt, unlike MC designs sometimes damaged beyond possible repair.

Soundsmith Moving-Iron Cartridges Offer Best of Both Worlds
Enjoy the best of both worlds: Soundsmith's moving-iron cartridges encompass the advantages of moving-coil and moving-magnet designs while simultaneously lessening or eliminating the respective approaches' deficiencies. Boasting extraordinary tracking abilities that let them effortlessly sail through complex musical passages, a warm and detailed character, exceptional transient response, and a full sound that completes entire notes and finishes instrumental structures, Soundsmith models exude natural musicality and high-end design. Built here in the U.S., we guarantee you'll love your new Soundsmith the moment it hits your favorite records' grooves.
