Grado Reference2 MC Phono Cartridge
Completely Updated for Supreme Performance: Stupendous-Sounding Grado Reference2 MC Phono Cartridge Outfitted With Custom-Cut Ellipsoid Design Diamond and Boron Cantilever
Grado makes no small plans with its Reference Series phono cartridges, which include the aptly named Reference2 MC. The Brooklyn-based company has given each model a complete makeover. Everything is new, inside and out. Seriously. Everything. Magnets and coils. Wood chassis and engravings. Even the stylus generator rings for lower moving mass. The biggest overhaul to the line in 20 years helps make the individually calibrated Reference2 an astoundingly great performer. You'll hear tremendous frequency extension, powerful and authoritative bass, a complex midrange, and savory delicacy. Five-piece OTL cantilever technology achieves an additional five-percent tip-mass reduction over Grado's Platinum2 and Sonata2 models. Outfitted with a custom-cut ellipsoid design diamond and boron cantilever, Reference2 also boasts ultra-high-purity long-crystal (UHPLC) oxygen-free copper wire in its hand-wound coils.
"The Reference's reproduction of the leading edge of low-frequency information, and it's overall portrayal of bass dynamics and pitch, were the best I've heard from any cartridge: solid powerful, authoritative."

Hand-Crafted and Intricately Cured, Designed for the Finest Analog Systems
Reference2 is hand-crafted at Grado Labs from Australian Jarrah wood, which is intricately cured between production steps to achieve optimal sonic quality. Reference2's generator/stylus module is not replaceable, allowing for a redesigned one-piece magnetic circuit and a reduction of chassis resonances. Designed for the finest analog gear and able to throw massive soundstages, Reference Series2 has a recommended tracking force of 1.5 to 1.9 grams. Output measures at 5mV.
