Reference-Class Sumiko Blackbird MC Phono Cartridge Delivers Detailed, Authoritative, and Comprehensive Sound from Every Vinyl LP it Encounters
Excellent Dynamic Range, Powerful Drive, Low Noise, and Desirable Smoothness Among Performance Attributes of Sumiko Blackbird MC Phono Cartridge
The Sumiko Blackbird MC phono cartridge has a big, rich sound distinguished by great dynamic range,
excellent inner detail, low noise, and powerful
rhythmic drive. Featuring a lightweight and ultra-rigid line-grain boron
cantilever and hot-rodded rigid generator assembly, Blackbird touts levels of detail, smoothness, imaging, and soundstaging that elevate it to a rare echelon of phono cartridges: That of reference-class performance for a price less than that commanded by many of its peers. Hand-calibrated and put through rigorous testing, Blackbird exudes seductive audiophile fidelity and will reward you with every record you spin.
"I'd put the Sumiko Blackbird's overall sonic performance, and especially its ability to deliver solid musical performance (if not the last word in resolution), up against almost any cartridge at any price!"
– Michael Fremer, Stereophile
At 9.6 grams, Blackbird is compatible with most
tonearm setups, but works best with a higher-mass arm or one accompanied by a
heavy counterweight. Its nude design eliminates resonance and excess
weight, allowing the generator assembly and cartridge wires to be
visible to the naked eye. Blackbird is available in both high-output and low-output designs, selectable from the menu above.
"This high-output moving-coil is smooth yet detailed, with a wide soundstage and fine low-end authority. Midrange instruments, such as voices and saxes are particularly seductive; images are stable; and transparency, transient quickness, and inner detail are all good!"
