Description

Two Separate MM and MC Phono Preamplifiers in a Single Class-Leading Device: All-Analog Rega Aria MK3 Features FET Transistors, Separate Power Supplies, Fully Aluminum Case

Separate but equal: The all-analog Aria MK3 MM/MC phono preamplifier incorporates two entirely separate, high-grade MM and MC phono preamplifiers for optimum playback. Both stages have their own input sockets, input preamplifier circuitry, and customization features. The MC input uses FET transistors to eliminate bias; its MM counterpart employs two separate power supplies. In short, whether you're using an MC or MM cartridge, or care to experiment with both types (tweakers note: Aria MK3 allows you to connect two turntables), Aria MK3 provides analog performance notable for its resolution, musicality, drive, and quiet operation. Just as importantly, Aria MK3 doesn't require an engineering degree to set up or use. It is as basically as plug-and-play as it gets. Aria MK3 even comes with factory-preset MC settings for all Rega MC cartridge models. Topping it off, a new, custom-designed half-width fully aluminum case provides crucial shielding on a unit that sets the standard at its price point.

"There's no shortage of drive and attack here, and a rhythmical precision most rival products barely hint at. It's the kind of sound that grabs your attention, never losing it until the track ends."
What Hi-Fi?, five-star review

"Plug it in, turn it on and play records. It's that easy. And the fact that you can plug a second 'table in is a big bonus. Highly recommended."
TONEAudio

"[It's] a discrete transistor design with no op-amps in in the signal path, and has a really engaging nature for its price. MM and MC connectivity are offered, and the result is a flexible and fine sounding product that's nigh on impossible to beat at the price."
Stereonet, 2020 Product of the Year Award

No Digital Control Circuitry Allowed
Aria is completely all-analog with no digital control circuitry. The fully aluminum case screens the internal circuit from any stray RFI signals. Aria incorporates many innovative design ideas, including a self-adjusting servo control to keep the MC input circuit at its optimum, compensating for any variations in ambient or operating temperature. Both stages have their own separate input sockets and input preamplifier circuitry. This enables bespoke input circuitry for each cartridge type without compromise. Signal switching is performed at high level and low impedance (via relays), ensuring no degradation of the signal.

Designed for Serious MC Performance...
The MC input uses parallel-connected, low-noise FET's (Field Effect Transistors) configured as a compound pair. The use of latter ensures no bias current flows in the cartridge coil so as not to upset the delicate magnetic geometry of the cartridge. The MC input has the provision for selecting resistive input loading of 70W to 400 ohms and capacitive loading of 1000pF to 4200pF. The input sensitivity can be changed by 6dB via the back panel.

...As Well as Remarkable MM Performance
The MM input uses low noise bipolar input transistors also configured as a compound pair. Two separate power supplies exist for each channel, plus sub power supplies for each of the low-noise input circuits. Nichicon FG electrolytic capacitors are used in critical positions throughout the power supplies. Polypropylene capacitors can be found the signal path and equalization networks. Discrete circuitry is used throughout the signal path, ensuring full control of the circuit design.
