Venom AMP-1 Can Be Used In Tandem With Venom Defender for Remote Power Solutions
Designed for monoblock amplifiers and video projectors, Venom AMP-1 is a single-outlet device that includes surge protection and noise reduction. Venom Defender is a unique "pocket power conditioner" designed for a remotely located single component. It plugs directly into the AC duplex, eliminating the need for a conventional power conditioner and the associated power cabling. Advanced Technology Addresses Component-to-Component Interference, Gemini for Surge Protection
Traditional power conditioners are designed to block noise coming in from outside the home but do not address noise generated by the electronic components. Many conditioners reflect noise back onto other components connected to the power conditioner. CCI is one of the most significant but often overlooked aspects to power-system performance. Shunyata developed several noise-reduction technologies to control CCI interference without using heavy transformers, coils, or large capacitors. Included in AMP-1, a Gemini Module provides a massive 40,000 amps of surge protection, spike protection, and noise reduction in a single compact module. The noise-reduction circuitry is similar in design to the MPDA and CCI noise-reduction modules. It also includes circuitry that monitors its operation, including an LED status indicator.
Distributed Power Conditioning and Dynamic Transient Current Delivery Analysis
Distributed Power Conditioning solves problems associated with power-line noise in complex home-entertainment systems. Because they may use several dedicated power lines, it's almost impossible to effectively reduce power-line noise with a single-box power conditioner. Shunyata cures this problem by intercepting noise at multiple locations in the entertainment system via a variety of products. Shunyata power distributors supply power to multiple components while intercepting incoming power-line RFI and EMI while also addressing CCI by reducing component-to-component interference. DTCD analysis enables Shunyata to develop multiple noise-reduction technologies that do not compromise instantaneous current delivery. It measures instantaneous current through low-impedance electrical conductors and contacts. DTCD optimizes the design, specification, and construction of parts and materials to ensure maximum current-delivery performance in power distributors and power cables.
Highest-Purity Copper for Wiring Leads to Superior Conductivity
Shunyata uses only the highest-purity copper available for the production of its wire products. OFE Alloy 101 (or C10100) is the highest grade of copper with a minimum 99.99% purity and a conductivity rating of 101% IACS. OFE stands for oxygen-free electrolytic and supersedes the term OFHC (oxygen-free high conductivity). C10100 is the only grade of copper that comes with a written certification of purity. Of course, the internal wiring in a power conditioner is critical to the performance. Wiring determines the unit's overall current-carrying capacity and can dramatically affect the perceived audio and video performance. Shunyata produces its own 12-gauge power wire made from Alloy 101 OFE. The wire then undergoes advanced cryogenic treatment using an on-site Cryogenics International computer-controlled facility.
Internal Parts Designed and Made by Shunyata
Many so-called "audiophile-grade" power conditioners actually use a common computer-grade C14 power inlet. It has very small electrical contacts and notoriously feeble power cable grip, and it is only rated at a maximum of 15A of current. Even the entry-level Venom PS8 power distributor is fitted with a Hubbell IEC C20 inlet. It has massive electrical contacts and its grip strength are light years beyond the common C14 grade inlet. But Shunyata doesn't stop there. Ring terminals, spades, bolts, and washers used to connect internal wiring, terminals, and switches are examples of parts considered "trivial miscellaneous parts" by some engineers. Shunyata actually designs and makes a wide variety of these small parts using superior metals and platings for each specific application.
Audiophile-Grade Chassis Dampening
Shunyata's power-distributor chassis' are made with heavy-gauge steel or aluminum rather than plastic or thin wall-sheet metal. An accelerometer test instrument that detects extremely low levels of vibration is used in the development of vibration-absorbing materials such as energy absorbing footers, AC outlet gaskets, and chassis dampeners that measurably reduce resonant vibration within the power distributor. Shunyata's Isolation Footer possesses excellent vibration-dampening characteristics.
CCC: Computer-Controlled Cryogenics
Shunyata operates its own onsite Cryogenics International computer-controlled cryogenic plant. Liquid nitrogen is used to reduce the temperature of the contents to -320 degrees F. The computer monitors and lowers the temperature by a single degree at a time to prevent thermal shock. This process improves the performance of wire, conductors, connectors, and terminals used in Shunyata power products and signal cabling.
