Center-Channel Loudspeaker Fits in Tight Spaces, Delivers Big Performance: KEF Q250c Can Even Be Placed Against a Wall, Features Uni-Q Driver Array and Auxiliary Bass Radiators
The KEF Q250c center-channel loudspeaker is a great fit for home-theater fans who face limited space. While occupying a compact 7.1 x 20.7 x 8.42-inch (HWD) footprint, it doesn't compromise on the company's renowned clarity and three-dimensional imaging. Plus, a sealed-box design means the 16.5-pound unit can be placed within tight rack configurations or even against a back wall, and still deliver tight, punchy bass and a wide soundstage. The latter characteristics are furthered by two 5.25-inch Auxiliary Bass Radiators (ABRs) with highly responsive spider suspension that controls lower midrange and bass with remarkable authority and speed. Q250c will show you just how much impact resides in the critical center position of a movie's soundtrack.
Like all Q Series models, the grille-free Q250c features KEF's Uni-Q driver array comprised of a 5.25-inch aluminum driver and one-inch vented aluminum dome tweeter, the same architecture found in the company's critically acclaimed Blade and Reference Series speakers. By positioning the tweeter at the acoustic center of the midrange driver, KEF transforms the otherwise humble center channel into a musically satisfying component that can even double as a mains speaker when vertically placed. Enhanced with KEF's "tangerine" waveguide over the tweeter dome, Q250c reproduces voices and ambient with an aptitude that allows you to follow the smallest nuances in the dialogue. To ensure smooth and natural frequency integration, Q250c boasts a damped tweeter loading tube as well as a new low-distortion inductor on the crossover.
If you've never experienced Uni-Q technology, particularly in the surround realm, Q250c stands ready to meet all expectations (and then some). KEF's five-year manufacturer warranty and our 100% Music Direct Satisfaction Guarantee do the rest.
"Sit Anywhere" Uni-Q Sound
At the heart of the evolved Q Series is the Uni-Q driver array. KEF's signature innovation places the tweeter in the acoustic center of the midrange cone, bringing the acoustic ideal of a single point source closer than ever to realization. The result is a more detailed, more accurate three-dimensional sound image dispersed more evenly throughout the room than is possible with a conventional speaker. Uni-Q's ultra-wide dispersion is further enhanced by KEF's "tangerine" waveguide over the tweeter dome.
KEF Q Series Uni-Q Driver
With the addition of the damped tweeter loading tube providing a gentle termination of sound produced from the back of the tweeter, lower treble performance is improved dramatically and a new low-distortion inductor on the crossover provides cleaner bass. To optimize the resolution and purity of the Q Series bookshelf speakers, the Uni-Q driver has been repositioned to the center of the cabinet to reduce unwanted internal resonance and adds refinement to their sonic clarity and detail.
Redesigned Bass Drivers
Low-frequency (LF) drivers now have a larger roll surround, along with a new spider suspension to produce cleaner bass at high volumes. A new cone structure improves midrange clarity, and enhanced Auxiliary Bass Radiators (ABRs) with a new surround and rear suspension deliver better controlled and more impressive bass.
