Lights, Camera, Action: KEF Q650c Center-Channel Loudspeaker Brings Film Directors' Intentions to Life in Vivid Fashion, Features Uni-Q Driver Array and Auxiliary Bass Radiator
If you've ever wondered what's behind the Academy Awards for Sound Engineering and Sound Mixing, the KEF Q650c center-channel loudspeaker has got you covered. Measuring 8.26 x 24.76 x 11.96 inches (HWD), the 2.5-way bass-reflex design reproduces film directors' intentions with exquisite detail and accuracy. You'll also get put into the center of the action via involving dynamics and wide-dispersion soundstaging that extends beyond Q650c's borders. And it's safe to say this puppy goes deep. Credit a 6.5-inch hybrid aluminum woofer and complementary 6.5-inch Auxiliary Bass Radiator (ABR) with highly responsive spider suspension.
A seamless match with all Q Series models, the grille-free Q650c most notably features KEF's Uni-Q driver array comprised of a 6.5-inch aluminum driver and one-inch vented aluminum dome tweeter, the same architecture found in the company's acclaimed Reference Series speakers. By positioning the tweeter at the acoustic center of the midrange driver, KEF transforms Q650c into a powerhouse. Enhanced with KEF's "tangerine" waveguide over the tweeter dome, it plays voices and ambient with an aptitude that allows you to follow the smallest nuances. To further ensure smooth and natural frequency integration, Q650c boasts a damped tweeter loading tube as well as a new low-distortion inductor on the crossover.
While you'll need to supply your own seat, Q650c will help put you in the director's chair. KEF's five-year manufacturer warranty and our 100% Music Direct Satisfaction Guarantee do the rest.
"These speakers have little trouble blistering through the trigger-happy car chase of the opening scenes. They use every ounce of their muscle to pin us back into the sofa."
– What Hi-Fi?
"In an age where most people (understandably) go for a simple sound bar system, three cheers for a nice, beefy center channel that can keep up with its badass tower brothers."

"Sit Anywhere" Uni-Q Sound
At the heart of the evolved Q Series is the Uni-Q driver array. KEF's signature innovation places the tweeter in the acoustic center of the midrange cone, bringing the acoustic ideal of a single point source closer than ever to realization. The result is a more detailed, more accurate three-dimensional sound image dispersed more evenly throughout the room than possible with a conventional speaker. Uni-Q's ultra-wide dispersion is further enhanced by KEF's '"tangerine" waveguide over the tweeter dome.
KEF Q Series Uni-Q Driver
With the addition of the damped tweeter loading tube providing a gentle termination of sound produced from the back of the tweeter, lower treble performance is improved dramatically and a new low-distortion inductor on the crossover provides cleaner bass. To optimize the resolution and purity of the Q Series bookshelf speakers, the Uni-Q driver has been repositioned to the center of the cabinet to reduce unwanted internal resonance and adds refinement to their sonic clarity and detail.
Redesigned Bass Drivers
Low-frequency (LF) drivers now have a larger roll surround, along with a new spider suspension to produce cleaner bass at high volumes. A new cone structure improves midrange clarity, and an enhanced Auxiliary Bass Radiators (ABR) with a new surround and rear suspension delivers better controlled and more impressive bass.
