Award-Winning Pro-Ject The Classic Turntable Features Innovative Two-Plinth Design, Advanced Tonearm, and Ortofon 2M Silver Cartridge: Play LPs With Remarkable Sound, Precision, and Stability
Winner of the prestigious EISA Award for Best Turntable, Pro-Ject The Classic combines the archetypal frame designs of the past with modern technology to produce a belt-drive ‘table that plays vinyl with outrageously good sound, remarkable precision, and incredible speed stability. Simple, beautiful, and borderline plug-and-play, The Classic harkens back to beloved Thorens and Linn tables of the 50s and 60s – but offers then-unimaginable improvements. A two-plinth design, The Classic places the motor in an elegant wooden subchassis while the bearing and tonearm reside on a main chassis that floats on six elastomer balls, drastically reducing noise and resonance. The plinths are further enhanced and isolated by Thermo-Plastic Elastomers (TPE), which offers superb damping capabilities. TPE also plays a large role in The Classic's innovative platter and subplatter configuration. The Classic's heavy, aluminum-alloy-machined main platter is damped with TPE while the subplatter utilizes a steel/bronze bushing/teflon composite, providing smoothness and quiet operation. The Classic claims degrees of isolation traditionally unavailable at its price point.
"I think Pro-Ject would struggle to make a bad turntable, but occasionally it comes up with a design that genuinely redefines what is possible at a particular price point. The Classic is a model that can safely join these ranks, turning in a performance that is polished and confident, but without some of the rough, over-exuberant edges that can mar more affordable creations."

Pro-Ject also gives The Classic a completely revised tonearm comprised of carbon and aluminum, granting it an unbeatable combination of speed, stiffness, and damping. A zircon bearing system for ultra-low friction, Japanese ball bearing for enhanced wire lead and freer movement, and TPE-damped counterweight that reduces the amplitude of the cartridge resonance are also standard. Equally notable, The Classic comes with an Ortofon 2M Silver MM cartridge that features pure silver coils, not copper. And, The Classic offers azimuth and VTA adjustment options, meaning you can employ a wide variety of cartridges if you so choose. What's left? Height-adjustable feet, an acrylic dust cover, Music Direct's Money-Back Guarantee, and years upon years of analog satisfaction for you and your vinyl.
