Winner of the Prestigious EISA Best Product Award: Ultra-Detailed Pro-Ject Xtension 9 Evolution Turntable Includes Carbon-Fiber 9cc Evolution Tonearm and Cutting-Edge Subchassis
Like many Pro-Ject turntables, Xtension 9 Evolution is an award-winner. Yet it bears a distinguished honor bestowed few high-end products: A Best Product Award from EISA, a longstanding European consortium of dozens of audio and video press outlets that prides itself on credibility and integrity. We could go on about particulars such as this ‘table's mass-loaded magnetic floating subchassis and heavy-duty platter, but the best justification comes from hearing this compact-sized delight for yourself.
Xtension 9 Evolution's chassis is made from MDF filled with metal granulate for non-resonant high mass. Magnetic feet decouple the main plinth from its base. Along with a weighty total turntable mass, the result equates to a unique combination of mass-loaded and floating-turntable design principles. Instead of using pure metal for the main platter, an alloy is damped on with thermo plastc elastomers (TPE). Additionally, recycled vinyl records are fixed to the top and bake the sandwich before precision-balancing it. The final product benefits from a wonderfully resonance-free, heavy platter that quietly runs on an inverted ceramic ball bearing with magnetic suspension. Xtension 9 Evolution includes the 9cc Evolution carbob-fiber tonearm and comes with a beautiful dustcover.
Xtension 9 is available in a standalone format, or in a SuperPack configuration, coupled with the Sumiko Blue Point EVO III phono cartridge, selectable from the menu above.
