Rega RP6 Turntable With Exact 2 MM Cartridge

Minimalist Design, Powerful Performance, Fantastically Accurate and Dynamic High-End Sound: Rega RP6 Turntable With Exact 2 MM Cartridge Includes RB303 Tonearm and TT-PSU Power Supply

Rega's RP6 turntable with Exact 2 cartridge makes the outstanding performance of higher-end tables available at a more reasonable price point. The sleek, streamlined RP6 features no superfluous gimmicks or distractions that would otherwise add to the cost. Centered around a lightweight albeit very rigid plinth, the 'table's minimalist design boasts superior build quality and accurate sound reproduction. A marked step up from Rega's innovative RP3 table, RP6 offers cleaner, more powerful performance. RP6 is fitted with a hand-assembled RB303 tonearm, precision main bearing, and a low-vibration, low-noise 24V motor assembly that is individually hand-tuned to its circuit to further reduce vibration. And let's not forget about the Exact 2, a $595 MM cartridge that pleases with astonishing frequency extension and quickness. The winner of awards from both What Hi-Fi? and Hi-Fi Choice, RP6 with the Exact 2 cartridge stands at the ready to give you countless hours of analog bliss. 100% Music Direct Guaranteed.

"The RP6 was able to present a convincing musical performance cleanly and simply, unfazed by the limitations of a particular record...Confidently offering a sonic uplift over the RP3, the RP6 seems to tread sure-footedly through the most difficult musical territory, unencumbered by any audible baggage of its own..."
– Steve Harris, Hi-Fi News

One-Piece Exact 2 MM Cartridge Extracts Tons of Information
The Rega Exact 2 MM phono cartridge shares the same body molding as the rest of the Rega cartridge range. Its one-piece body is devoid of energy-sapping joints between the stylus mounting and headshell contact face. The latter is machined perfectly flat to ensure maximum contact between cartridge and headshell. Rega designed and developed its own coil winding machine, which permits the company to manufacture coils in a completely new and innovative way. This means approximately one-third less wire is used than in other Rega cartridges. The Exact has a highly expensive non removable cantilever, fitted with a "Vital" diamond tip. This tip fits into the record groove more precisely than the usual elliptical type, allowing more information to be gleaned from the records.

"The RP6 delivers an increased sense of power, depth of harmonic richness, and percussive force, all with notable ease and gracefulness. What the RP6 ultimately delivers is what Rega fans have always treasured above all else, a gateway to a highly involving, long-term musical relationship with our vinyl collections."
– Wayne Garcia, The Absolute Sound

Superb Stability Via Hand-Assembled RB303 Tonearm
Designed using 3D CAD technology, the RB303 tonearm is the culmination of more than 30 years of design experience. Essentially a fine-tuned upgrade to the iconic RB300 tonearm, RB303 features a brand new tube which has increased rigidity to the bearing housing, arm carrier, and headshell. Coupled with intelligent redistribution of mass, this ensures that this arm will exhibit fewer points of possible resonance. Extreme stability with almost friction-free movement from the high precision bearing assemblies guarantee to gather more detail from your vinyl.

"The RP6 lays into the bass texture...if your system has good low-frequency capability, you'll notice the extra authority the RP6 musters. As for the midrange? Ditto."
– Jeff Dorgay, TONEAudio

TT-PSU Power Supply and 24V Twin-Phase Synchronous Motor
The compact TT-PSU power supply uses a high stability crystal locked low distortion sine wave generator. This, along with an efficient drive amplifier fed from a stabilized DC power supply, generates a 24V AC balanced signal of less than 0.05% distortion, which is completely unaffected by any changes in the mains/line voltage and conditions. This then drives the improved Rega anti-vibration circuit built into the RP6 motor PCB. The aluminum top hub adaptor is manufactured to the highest tolerance and uses a six-point mounting system to ensure the platter and vinyl is presented as flat as possible to the stylus.
The motor is a high-specification, 24V twin phase synchronous unit that has the anti-vibration circuit hand-tuned to each motor and controlled by Rega's unique and innovative TT-PSU power supply. The motor drives the CNC-machined pulley and sub platter/hub-bearing assembly via the belt drive.

The Energy-Absorbing Science Behind Rega's Rigid Plinth
"Mass absorbs energy - lost energy equals lost music!" Clever use of a lightweight particulate core with a highly rigid phenolic resin skin became the foundations of the high level of performance achieved by Rega's Planar turntable range. The latest generation of Rega turntables takes this design philosophy to the next level. A super lightweight plinth combined with a phenolic resin double brace mounted specifically where the increased rigidity is required (between the tonearm mounting and the main hub bearing) forms a structurally sound "stressed beam" assembly. This rigid plinth design prevents energy absorption and unwanted resonances which will add unnatural distortions to the music. Equally, heavier mass can transfer more unwanted energy such as motor or bearing noise directly into the rotating record. The use of braces instead of the complete skin allows double thickness phenolic resin in these key areas while providing further weight reduction to the plinth which directly addresses the issue of mass absorption and unwanted energy transmission.

RP6 Speed Stability and Consistency Extend to Platter
RP6 features an innovative two-piece platter design constructed from float glass. Manufactured using a complex and labor intensive invisible UV curing bond technique, the secondary ring platter is permanently bonded to the underside of the main platter. The extra ring adds mass to the outer circumference, increasing the natural flywheel effect of the platter improving speed stability, accuracy and consistency. RP6 also includes a hinged dustcover, easily removable for maximum sonic performance.
