Creem Magazine once described NYC psychedelic punk rock band Alice Donut's live shows as "the most decadent punk rock-fueled all-out orgies ever witnessed." The group's style and lyrics are eclectic and their music is a mixture of hard rock, punk, and post-punk, typically featuring melodic, guitar-heavy, odd-metered, and rhythm based pieces punctuated with brass instrumentation. Many of the members were traditionally or classically-trained musicians, though rarely on the same instruments they played in the band. 2009's Ten Glorious Animals marked Alice Donut's triumphant return to Alternative Tentacles and it's chock full of the band's signature hard rock/post-punk and lyrics that take on the perversities, odd details, and petty humiliations of life. Add in a trombone-based version of the Pixies "Where Is My Mind" and you've got one for the ages!
