Arkansas Dave Pennington was born and raised in the piney swamps of South Arkansas and the self taught musician's sound is very much rooted in the music created by his predecessors. From the blues to gospel to rock 'n' roll, his work comes full circle on his raw and rangy 13-track eponymous debut which Dave calls "a collection of songs that tell my story." Recorded over eight days at Fame Studios with the Swampers, the legendary Muscle Shoals Rhythm Section - Will McFarlane, Clayton Ivey and Bob Wray, with horn arrangements by Charles Rose and Jim Horn - the album was co-produced with Jamie "Gypsy" Evans while vocals were completed at Arlyn Studios in Austin, TX. Includes a soulful take on Tom Waits' "Chocolate Jesus" and the autobiographical trials and tribulations ode "Squeaky Clean." 180g 2LP-set with download card.
