One of the early death metal acts and no stranger to controversy over the years, Autopsy formed in 1987 in San Francisco, CA and released four albums on Peaceville Records before disbanding in 1995 and going on to form Abscess. The band notably features legendary drummer Chris Reifert, who began his recording career with metal greats, Death, before taking on the unusual duty of handling drums and vocals for Autopsy. Peaceville is pleased to offer a picture disc pressing of Autopsy's seminal 1989 debut Severed Survival. Hailed as one of death metal's finest, it boasts a completely rotten and uncompromising sound - dirty, sludgy, death and doom metal mixed in with repulsive tales of death and disease. Featuring artwork from the controversial original edition plus the alternate 'surgeons' cover.
