The critically acclaimed duo Bow To Each Other received a lot of attention for their debut album The Urge Drums, which was released in 2014 and produced by Susanne Sundfør. Dagens Næringsliv called it a "Norwegian-Canadian stroke of luck" in their enthusiastic review, while Gaffa hailed it as, "Stylishly strong, electronic pop elegance." Bow To Each Other consist of Oslo-based Megan Kovacs and Gunhild Ramsay Kristoffersen. Together they write and arrange their songs, and to a large extent they produce them in their small basement studio.
2015 follow-up My Heart Is A Target was shaped differently than The Urge Drums. Instead of working with one producer for the whole album, the duo explored their soundscape themselves, and also in collaboration with various Norwegian musicians and artists. Large parts of the album were produced in collaboration with Erlend Mokkelbost, and they also wrote songs that were arranged and produced with the duo Atella, Sigurd Thomassen from Pow Pow, and Jens Kristian M. Rimau.
The soundscape on My Heart Is A Target is inspired by the electronic universe of the '70s and '80s, Wagner romance and dance-friendly club music. Bow To Each Other wanted to create music that can excite, and at the same time leave room for deeper reflection for the listener. They did both here with flying colors!
