Grammy And Academy Award Winning Soundtrack Available on Vinyl for the First Time!
Jeff Bridges made an Academy Award-winning turn as the richly comic, semi-tragic romantic anti-hero Bad Blake in the 2009 debut feature film from writer-director Scott Cooper. Blake is a broken-down, hard-living country music singer who's had way too many marriages, far too many years on the road and one too many drinks way too many times. And yet, he can't help but reach for salvation with the help of Jean (Maggie Gyllenhall), a journalist who discovers the real man behind the musician. As he struggles down the road of redemption, Blake learns the hard way just how tough life can be on one man's crazy heart.
The Grammy and Academy Award-wining soundtrack was co-produced by T Bone Burnett who also co-composed the film's score with guitarist/songwriter Stephen Bruton. With Burnett also producing the film, the music plays a prominent role. Burnett co-wrote the pivotal Academy Award-winning track "The Weary Kind (Theme From Crazy Heart)," with acclaimed Texas singer/songwriter Ryan Bingham. The song is performed numerous times in the film by Bridges himself and a Bingham version premieres over the film's trailer. Bingham also made his acting debut in the film and performs the Burnett/Bruton song "I Don't Know." Buddy Miller, Jay Bellerose and Greg Leisz were among the notable musicians called in to play on the original songs.
On the soundtrack, the new original music sung by the films actors, is interwoven with songs by artists who've lived the movie's story including Waylon Jennings ("Are You Sure Hank Done It This Way") and Townes Van Zandt ("If I Needed You"). The soundtrack is rounded out with music from Buck Owens ("Hello Trouble"), The Louvin Brothers ("My Baby's Gone"), Lightnin' Hopkins ("Once A Gambler") and Sam Phillips ("Reflecting Light"). This deluxe 180g 2LP edition of the Crazy Heart: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack includes all 23 songs from the film, sequenced in their original running order. Pressed onto vinyl for the very first time, this package features a 6-panel digi-gatefold as well as a fold out movie poster.
