Stoke, UK-based punk band Discharge turned the world of underground music on its head with their primal bursts of uncompromising speed and aggression. Formed in the late-70s by twin brothers Bones and Tezz Roberts, and Rainy Wainwright, Discharge has proceeded to change the face of punk and indeed extreme music itself. The band's music is characterized by a heavy, distorted, and grinding guitar-driven sound and rawly shouted vocals, with lyrics on anarchist and pacifist themes. Originally released on Clay Records in 1986, Grave New World marked a radical stylistic change for the U.K. punk icons and saw more accessible glam-metal elements seeping into their anarchist sound due to frustrations with the state of punk rock at the time. The band split up shortly after its controversial release but reformed in 1990.
