Ten Bands One Cause Pink Vinyl Reissue Benefiting Gilda's Club NYC!
Ten Bands re-issue their albums on pink vinyl, all for one cause. This is the fifth year for the initiative that has raised over $200,000 for Gilda's Club NYC, an organization that provides community support for both those diagnosed with cancer and their caretakers. It is named after comedian Gilda Radner, who passed away from cancer at the age of 43 in 1989. 2018's pink vinyl reissues come from Silversun Pickups, Modest Mouse, Local Natives, Black Moth Super Rainbow, EL-P, Tyler Childers, Soccer Mommy, Daryl Hall & John Oates, The All-American Rejects and The Rocky Horror Picture Show Soundtrack.
Independent rap icon El-P's
2012 effort, Cancer 4 Cure
took another huge leap forward from the production work of his 2010 instrumental album Weareallgoingtoburninhellmeggamixxx
with a bombastic collision of synths, bottomless bass tones, live instrumentation, ear-worming melodies, and tightly coiled drum patterns. The obvious diversion from its predecessor is the presence of El-P’s
ever-developing vocal style, continuing to raise the bar on his already highly verbose flow that swiftly and muscularly navigates a rapidfire explosion of syllabic conundrums and quick-witted elocutions full of heart, purpose, style and grit. It's topped off by features from Killer Mike, Danny Brown, Mr. Muthafuckin’ Exquire, and Paul Banks (Interpol).
