Influential jazz pianist Earl Hines is in top form on this appropriately named solo set, recorded at Hank O'Neal Studio in November of 1972 in New York City. The recording fines Hines near the peak of his creativity, taking wild chances with time signatures and coming up with fresh new variations on veteran standards like "When Your Lover Has Gone," "Indian Summer" and "Mack the Knife" among others. Tour de Force sounds better than ever on this audiophile-grade reissue from ORG Music, which was mastered from the original analog tapes by Bernie Grundman and pressed on 180-gram vinyl at Pallas in Germany.
