Gizmodrome - a high-voltage "All-Star-Band" formed by Stewart Copeland (The Police and multi-awarded soundtrack composer), Mark King (Level 42), Adrian Belew (King Crimson, David Bowie, Frank Zappa and Talking Heads) and Vittorio Cosma (who played with Italian prog legends PFM and an impressive list of Italian and international stars) - release their self-titled debut on earMUSIC.
The four incredible talents have created one of the most exciting and versatile albums of 2017. Copeland is, of course, known for his exceptional drum style with The Police. He recorded songs that changed pop rock forever. He is obviously the wild talent behind the drums but in Gizmodrome he often takes the role of main singer. With two more great singers in the band singing on nearly all of the songs it's the fusion of Copeland's "unorthodox" vocal approach with the soulful and melodic lines of King and the extravagant singing style of Belew that helps make each song a masterpiece!
"Progressive pop" could be the best definition that would sum all the elements in Gizmodrome, but it would probably not say it all, when all of a sudden you hear the wild heavy rock guitars of Belew and the imaginative and poetic keyboards of Cosma. One thing is sure: Gizmodrome is equally unpredictable and pioneering. The album was produced by Claudio Dentes, a wizard producer that could be best described as the musical version of Dr. Brown in Back To The Future. He has been "responsible" for some of the most creative and successful Italian productions of the last 30 years.
