Coming five years after the acclaimed, Dirty Fingernails, Better Than Good Times is The Golden Boys' sixth full-length album overall. The band (featuring Nay Nay Arbeitman, Matt Hoopengardner, Patrick Travis, John Wesley Coleman III and Bryan Schmitz) has cultivated a truly Texan sound here. Their songs are Texan in their drunken reverie and Texan in their tender heartache. The Austin Chronicle writes, "Punk in spirit, rifling through dirty R&B, outlaw country, and vintage pop, Austin's the Golden Boys embody every great idiom of rock & roll." Gregg Levy plays guitar on "Sundays With Jackie," "Dear Work," "Rattle On" and "Let The Cold Wind Blow." Sara Houser sings on "So Cowboy" and "Lonely Girls." James Arthur sings backup on "Kick The Can" and "She's A Song." Recorded and mixed by Stuart Sikes (Loretta Lynn, Manhunt, A Giant Dog, Grifters) at Iggy's Putt Putt Palace and mastered by Matthew Barnhart at Chicago Mastering Service.
