Grammy Winning 2013 Album Available on Vinyl for the First Time!
In the two decades since her professional debut, three-time Grammy Award-winning violinist Hilary Hahn has brought her virtuosity, expansive interpretations, and creative repertoire choices to diverse global audiences. Her recordings have received every critical prize in the international press and have been met with equal popular success. Her distinct approach to music shows a remarkable ability to honor the traditional violin literature while creating new opportunities for listeners.
In 2013, Hahn released In 27 Pieces: The Hilary Hahn Encores, the culmination of a multi-year project to renew the encore genre. Through her extensive knowledge of contemporary classical composers, Hilary commissioned 26 encore pieces, with the 27th piece discovered through a blind online contest. The album includes a roll-call of contemporary composers including Nico Muhly, Jennifer Higdon, James Newton Howard, Max Richter, Einojuhani Rautavaara, Lera Auerbach, Elliott Sharp, Mason Bates, Valentin Silvestrov, Mark Anthony Turnage, David Lang, Du Yng and Franghiz Al-Zadeh. Featuring pianist Cory Smythe, this Grammy-winning album is now available on vinyl for the first time.
"What makes this album crucial is less what it is than what it represents: a star soloist who has grown into a passionate advocate for the music of her time. If only every instrumentalist did projects like this." - The New York Times – Times Critics' Favorite Classical Recordings of 2013
