Anyone who is a fan of a swinging big band and pop vocals knows the name Johnny Mercer. He had the distinction of being one of the founders of Capitol Records, the lyricist (and sometimes composer) of some of the most beloved and recognizable songs of the 20th century, and a singer himself. Anchored by the iconic Academy Award-nominated title cut which he wrote in 1944 and was inducted into the Library of Congress's National Recording Registry in 2015, this winsome 1957 Capitol collection features backing vocals from The Blue Reys and The Pied Pipers plus orchestral backing from Alvino Rey's Orchestra, Freddy Slack's Orchestra and Paul Weston And His Orchestra. Accentuate the Positive is now reissued on vinyl in celebration of Capitol Records' 75th anniversary.
