Junior Murvin's 1977 roots reggae classic Police & Thieves was produced by the one and only Lee "Scratch" Perry (who also wrote or co-wrote many of the songs) at his legendary Black Ark Studios with the mighty Upsetters. Perry's imaginative and groundbreaking production surrounded Junior's falsetto vocals and the musicians in a dense, echo heavy, spaced out sound which resulted in some of the greatest songs and overall albums of the roots era. The title song was memorably covered by The Clash in a very different arrangement than Murvin's. Now available on colored vinyl courtesy of 4 Men With Beards.
