50th Anniversary Reissue Cut from the Original Analog Master
Best known for his signature song "Messin' With The Kid" and much-acclaimed 1965 album Hoodoo Man Blues, Junior Wells had a big hand in pioneering the hard-driving, amplified blues harmonica style synonymous with Chicago blues. One of the great electric blues albums of the late ‘60s, this 1968 gem features Wells in fine form on harmonica and vocals with fellow Chicago legend Buddy Guy matching his fire on lead guitar on a selection of blues standards by the likes of the Sonny Boys, Willie Dixon, and John D. Loudermilk. Wells partnership with Guy, which began in 1965, was the most significant of his career. The mix of Wells' harmonica and Guy's guitar lines created some of the best the Chicago blues had to offer. The addition of brass, in evidence here, gave his sound a rock edge which attracted a wider audience. Back on vinyl for the first time in over 40 years, this 50th anniversary reissue was cut from the original analog master, pressed on 180-gram vinyl, and comes housed in a tip-on jacket.
