Los Angeles, California-based rock ‘n' roll force of nature King Leg releases his Dwight Yoakam and Chris Lord-Alge-produced full-length debut Meet King Leg via Sire Records. The throwback record - which finds King Leg channeling Roy Orbison and Morrissey in equal measure - comes preceded by the previously released numbers "Great Outdoors," "Your Picture," "Cloud City," and "Comfy Chair / (A Dream That Never Ends)."
"Excited and honored that Meet King Leg is out on Sire Records," King Leg says. "I hope it serves well as an introduction to my music. This record has teeth, and it bites. It was a full body experience, recorded in Hollywood's Capitol Studio B at high volumes by a rockin' band. Helmed in the control room by producers Dwight Yoakam and Chris Lord-Alge, it was engineered and mixed at slamming levels that pushed the extreme. Listening to playback in the studio for the first time, these songs surged through my body in a unique way, I believe due to the energy and sonics of that hallowed space and the edgy playing of the band which captured that moment perfectly. So crank it up, because that's how this was made, and I hope you all get a taste of that feeling too!"
Upon signing King Leg, Chairman of Sire Records, Seymour Stein, had the following to say: "King Leg makes American Music. It is Rock ‘n' Roll, with a nod to R&B and Country - which as we know, helped to usher in Rock ‘n' Roll back in the 1950s. The lightning rod for Rock ‘n' Roll was when Elvis Presley signed to RCA in 1956 and put out "Heartbreak Hotel." When I heard King Leg's music, I was totally blown away - not just by the immediacy of the songs, but also the extraordinary voice - reminiscent of the great Roy Orbison. King Leg may be young, but musically he is fully mature."
