Fuzz Club welcome yet another Scandinavian addition to their roster! This time around it comes in the shape of Medistation, a new side-project from Eric Strand of Swedish outfit, and fellow Fuzz Club family, The Orange Revival. Rumbling out of Stockholm on a cloud of reverb and feedback, Medistation deals in hazy noise pop that sounds like the best band Creation never signed.
Strand actually began the project back in 2014, when he began recording a few songs which were never to surface. After a few years, he finally ended up with his first official release – a five track self-titled 12″ EP that Fuzz Club is delighted to be releasing for the first time. The EP is a collaborative effort, Eric handled most of the songwriting duties but it also boasts guest vocals from Jake Garcia (The Black Angels), drums from Cobian Modeste (The Buttertones) and grand piano from Max Groundstroem (Samling/Valp ).
On the EP, Medistation channels the sluggish razor-sharp guitars and commanding vocals of the Mary Chain with glimmers of ethereal noise-pop that falls somewhere between the gospel-psychedelia of Spiritualized and Primal Scream before Gillespie discovered acid-house and amphetamines at the turn of the nineties. It's a visceral, reverb-soaked journey into fuzzed out alt-rock/noise pop that leaves you desperately wanting more.
