Matthew and Gunnar Nelson had rare insight into what it took to make it in the entertainment world and successfully carried on the inspiring story of a most remarkable show business family. Their grandparents, Ozzie and Harriet, achieved immortality with The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet, the longest-running live action sitcom in television history. Earlier, the couple had enjoyed big band success and had scored a No. 1 hit in 1934. Long before MTV made twins Matthew & Gunnar pop-rock icons, their father Ricky Nelson was a TV star and teen idol in his own right. The Rock and Roll Hall of Famer is known for such hits as "Poor Little Fool," "Travelin' Man," "Hello Mary Lou," "Garden Party," "Lonesome Town," "Never Be Anyone Else But You," and "Teenage Idol."
And in 1990, Matthew & Gunnar joined the hitmaking business with their multi-platinum Nelson debut, After the Rain. The album shot to the No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and busted into the Top 20 on the Billboard 200 thanks to the history making hit single "(Can't Live Without Your) Love and Affection," which landed the iconic Nelson family (bandleader Ozzie Nelson, rock legend Rick Nelson, and twins Matthew & Gunnar) in the Guinness Book of World Records as the only family in entertainment with three successive generations of No. 1 hits. Nelson's After the Rain record and tour became a phenomenon just prior to the rise of grunge and made the group one of the last major successes of the good time rock 'n' roll era.
