Nina Simone's Colpix Records era documents her musical journey from jazz and folk singer to critically acclaimed songwriter. Between 1959 and 1964, Simone was signed to Colpix, who relinquished all creative control to her, including the choice of material. With her voice at its finest, she worked her way through jazz and blues standards ("The Work Song," "I Got It Bad (And That Ain't Good)") and folk tunes ("Little Liza Jane") before eventually writing her own material. This vinyl compilation gathers 2017 remastered versions of fourteen singles released by Colpix with their original edits, in mono.
