Since their launch in the early 1970s on the MCA label, Osibisa was one of the first bands to create awareness of African music, combining talents from both West Africa and the Caribbean. They pioneered an exotic and exciting blend of High Life rhythms and hard rock to create sensational sounds that also appealed to European and American audiences. 1975's Welcome Home served as the group's sixth studio album and often draws comparisons to the sounds and imagery of '70s Santana while also implementing elements of Afrobeat which would become popularized the following decade. Includes their U.K. hit "Sunshine Day" and the traditionals "Densu" and "Kolomashie."
