Sacramento indie mainstays Sun Valley Gun Club have always had trouble pinning themselves to a genre. They might sometimes sound familiar. Their deeply personal and emotional lyrical content woven into beautifully crafted songs may bring to mind Pedro the Lion or their punk infused alt-country sensibilities may remind you of The Weakerthans. And sometimes the references may not be so obvious. That suits Sun Valley Gun Club just fine. Their unique brand of rock has been called "nuanced and innovative" (SF Deli) and "endearingly loose" (San Jose Metro). Their third full length effort, The Water, The Stars was recorded throughout 2017 at the Atomic Garden in Palo Alto, CA by long-time friend and engineer Jack Shirley (Deafheaven, Jeff Rosenstock).
