The Disposable Heroes of Hiphoprisy was a short lived hip-hop group formed by Michael Franti (vocals, production) and Rono Tse (drums, percussion, programming) in 1990 out of the ashes of the avant-garde industrial jazz collective Beatnigs. Dense in both its sonics and its subject matter, their cult classic 1992 debut Hypocrisy Is the Greatest Luxury was co-produced with Consolidated's Mark Pistel and mixed with Meat Beat Manifesto's Jack Dangers and finds an emotionally charged Franti tackling socio-political issues over diverse backdrops that incorporate elements of deep funk, jazz and industrial music. Lyrically and musically it's as vital today as ever!
