Acid: Can You Jack? - Chicago Acid And Experimental House 1985-95 Vol. 1 on 180g 2LP + Download Code
Soul Jazz Records presents the re-release of Acid: Can You Jack? - Chicago Acid And Experimental House 1985-95 on two heavyweight 180g 2LP volumes with accompanying downloads. The release tells the story of the evolution of acid and experimental house in Chicago - and how a number of creative artists from the city developed a sound that came to influence the world.
The collection traces how the sound developed as clubs like Ron Hardy’s legendary “Music Box” and Frankie Knuckles “Warehouse” put Chicago on the map along with radio shows from the Hot Mix Five and features all-time classic tracks such as Phuture’s “Acid Trax” and Sleezy D’s “I’ve Lost Control” alongside many rare and experimental tracks such as Jamie Principle’s “Baby Wants to Ride and Marshall Jefferson’s “Go Wild Rhythm Tracks.”
All the major artists from the city are showcased - from the originators like Marshall Jefferson, DJ Pierre, Jamie Principle, Adonis to second wave artists like Cajmere and Roy Davis Jr. – artists who continue to make Chicago a unique musical environment today. Vol. 1 comprises eight cuts across 2LPs including material by Maurice, The Sweat Boyz, Virgo, Mr. Fingers, Tyree, Phuture, Fresh and Roy Davis Jr.
