Mixing country, blues and acid house, Alabama 3 signed to One Little Indian in 1997 and released their debut album Exile On Coldharbour Lane the same year whose track "Woke Up This Morning" became the theme music to the legendary HBO series Sopranos. Strong follow-ups La Peste (2000) and Power in the Blood (2002) saw the band more than living up to the hype while Last Train to Mashville (2003) offered up acoustic versions of the best cuts from their first three outings.
The new era of the Tyburn Ballad commenced on 2005's aptly titled Outlaw, with Alabama 3 the new balladeers reappraising British outlaw culture and relocating it alongside the Hole in the Wall Gang, The James Gang and every great gang to have ever ridden rough shod through our imagination and mythology.
"They've done dance music fused with country and taken a slanted look at Americana while sending it up with their trademark Stetsons...Outlaw is the most country album they've produced and yet it's a concept album looking at British version of America's hard men." - BBC
