Description

In 1969 keyboard player Vincent Crane and drummer Carl Palmer left The Crazy World of Arthur Brown and founded British rock band Atomic Rooster with vocalist/bassist Nick Graham. The trio stayed together long enough to issue the band's debut self-titled album in 1970 (complete with its bare breasted rooster cover art) not to be confused with their 1980 comeback album which is also eponymous. Crane provided the lion's share of the diverse material here with exception to the John Mayall cut "Broken Wings," incorporating elements of folk, blues, rock and jazz, all tied together with his dark lyrical imagery. Shortly after the release of Atomic Rooster's first album guitarist and vocalist John Du Cann replaced Graham and Palmer went on to form supergroup Emerson, Lake & Palmer.
