Bach - Concerto In F Major Italian And Partita Nos. 1 And 2 - Glenn Gould on 180g Import LP
Glenn Gould and Bach: No other combination of performer and composer has gone down in the history of music so memorably, so inspirationally and so provocatively. The enigmatic artist's recordings of Bach's Concerto In F Major Italian, Partita No. 1 in B-Flat Major and Partita No. 2 in C Minor were originally captured in New York City in 1959. Gould's tenth recording for Columbia was accompanied by a two-part film portrait entitled Off the Record / On the Record – a sure indication of the star status he had by now attained. He was considered "music's most successful hipster" and "the object of a sort of James Dean cult" – perhaps classical music's first pop star. For the time being he still played along with the media hype. Remastered and pressed on 180g vinyl courtesy of Vinyl Passion Classical.
