Bluestaeb Rodalquilar on LP
Bluestaeb is a 23-year old producer, born and raised in Berlin and one of the most promising talents in the German beatmaker scene. His production is an unusual display of versatility with sounds ranging from classic HipHop to synth and 808-based beats. After forming Oldschool Future Tribe collective alongside Figub Brazlevič and a group of international producers in 2012, he released the debut LP 1991 Extraterrestrial via German label Radio Juicy in the following year.
Bluestaeb explains that his sophomore effort Bluestaeb, "is dedicated to a place called Rodalquilar; a very small village in southern Spain in the Parque Natural Cabo de Gata. In the early 1980s my parents visited the village on holiday and decided to buy the ruins of an old slaughterhouse to build their own home. Since my early childhood, I have spent more than three years in that area and it has had a lot of influence on my work as an artist to this day.
"Even though the village is in Spain, the area actually has a different feeling to it - it gives you the impression to be between Europe and Africa. When I was young my parents listened to a lot of Jazz and Blues records and when we were in Rodalquilar, we played a lot of CDs with North and West African music. Combined with the iconic landscape of the area, these two elements are the main inspiration for this project.
"The Rodalquilar LP is a very personal album that I started when I had the chance to get back there last summer to work on beats together with my father who played guitar on some tracks. The album is an effort to regroup all of those early influences from my childhood to nowadays."
