Cannibal Corpse Vile on LP
Includes 22" x 22" Cover Poster!
Vile is the fifth studio effort from Cannibal Corpse, initially issued in 1996 through Metal Blade Records under the title Created to Kill. The album was recorded with founding vocalist Chris Barnes, but prior to its release, he was kicked out of the band, and Monstrosity vocalist George "Corpsegrinder" Fisher was brought in to re-record the vocals and finish the album.
It was then released under the new title Vile. The album also marks the last to feature guitarist Rob Barrett until the release of Kill in 2006. The 11-song set is as brutal and aggressive as it gets and is worth a place in any good death metal collection. It was the first death metal album to appear on the Billboard 200 chart, debuting at #151, a feat Cannibal Corpse has repeated numerous times since!
"What Cannibal Corpse unwittingly did...is take disparate concepts (music, lyrics, art, touring, merchandise, distribution) and roll them into one gigantic, pus/bile-gushing machine that everyone from the record-buying public to idea-starved bands wanted a piece of..." - Decibel
