Channel 3 Fear Of Life on Numbered Colored LP
Like a weed poking up through the newly poured asphalt that was quickly turning the Southern Californian countryside into a vast suburban wasteland, the nascent hardcore punk scene began to grow. Channel 3, hailing from an outlying LA bedroom community, was a pioneering member of this scene of disillusioned teens who found music was the only viable alternative to hanging out in front of the local mini mart.
Somehow, between backyard keg parties, their demo made it to the legendary Posh Boy label, and the band soon released their debut full length LP, 1982's Fear Of Life. The album became an immediate classic and was picked up by England's No Future label and released in the UK with the more incendiary title of I've Got A Gun. The band was now at the peak of its popularity, playing to large crowds at home and abroad and even enjoying some chart success.
"I don’t know who suggested Fear of Life as the title track, but looking back on this collection of songs it certainly fits. This is a collection of songs reflecting our mindset at the time: confused, aroused, and yeah...maybe even a little bit afraid of, for lack of a better word...life. The song titles pop out at you like the chapters of a cheesy self help book you’d see in the airport display rack: A Parent’s Guide to Troubled Teens. Out of Control, I Wanna Know Why, Catholic Boy, Fear of Life, You Lie...oh yeah...Life Goes On!" - Liner notes for the Fear of Life Drastic Plastic Records reissue
Channel 3's debut full-length release Fear Of Life has been remastered for vinyl and is being offered in numbered runs on 200-gram black vinyl and colored vinyl by Drastic Plastic Records. The pressings also feature faithful, updated renderings of the original art.
