Charlie Parker is a name synonymous with jazz royalty, a true innovator who helped create and develop bebop jazz and change the face of music forever. Bebop became one of America's most important and successful artistic movements and Parker is rightfully regarded as one of its founding fathers. The saxophonist's short but impactful life was documented in the acclaimed 1988 biographical film, Bird, directed/produced by Clint Eastwood and starring Forest Whitaker and most importantly Parker's music.
Charlie's widow Chan provided original recordings for Eastwood to use in the film which the director enhanced with the contributions of contemporary sidemen like Ray Brown, Walter Davis, Jr., Ron Carter, Barry Harris, and Red Rodney. A jazz lover's dream, it resulted in a fitting tribute to the music legend and a Grammy Award for Best Sound featuring ten of Charlie's finest tunes like "This Time The Dreams On Me," "Ko Ko," "Parker's Mood" and "Orinthology." Colored 180g vinyl from Friday Music, mastered by Joe Reagoso at Friday Music Studios and manufactured at RTI.
